In one of my "worst" reviews, the reviewer recommended readers skip my contribution to the Secrets 22 anthology and gave it a C-. Here's the linkIn a fascinating turn of events, the same reviewer gave an A to my contribution in the Secrets 17 anthology. It just goes to show that people like what they like and both "good" and "bad" reviews are valid!

CLAUSTROPHOBIC CHRISTMAS (Ellie Marvel), Samhain Publishing, December 2011

"I’m glad I read this book for a couple of reasons. I have this thing about the first book I read/finish in the new year. If it’s good, I take it as a positive sign for the year to come and for me this is a B+. So far, so good. Secondly, it’s funny." -- Jayne for Dear Author

WHAT SHE DESERVES (Ellie Marvel), Samhain Publishing, December 2009

"I loved the original concept of the tale and salute Ms. Marvel for her imagination and putting a story out there that everyone can enjoy." -- Missy for Fallen Angel Reviews

"Fans of the high-school-nerd-turned-hunk theme are sure to enjoy What She Deserves, as are those who enjoy a good belly-laugh. Humor and sizzling sex always complement one another, and there is plenty of that to go around in this story – and then some." -- Fern from Whipped Cream Reviews (Long & Short of It)

"One thumb up, for the clean readable prose and decent pacing." -- Mrs. Giggles for Herself (hee!)

MEGAN'S CHOICE (Ellie Marvel), Red Sage Publishing, January 2009

"How fun is that? Seriously!" -- Jackie from http://bittenbybooks.com/?p=17931

"Ellie Marvel has produced a wonderful new form of romance. I look forward to seeing more interactive stories. I enjoyed the tales of Megan and read many different versions of the story. I would flip back to Megan's first divergence and then proceed down the different choices she had to make. It was all very cool." -- Tammie King from Night Owl Romance

"Overall, this was a fascinating and intriguing story with interesting characters and several different intriguing threads.  In addition to enjoying the story, I truly enjoyed the power that reading this story gives the reader and hope to read more romances featuring this concept." -- Jennifer Yates for Jennifer's Random Musings

LIAM'S GOLD, Samhain Publishing, November 2008

"Jody Wallace has written another wonderful story to take you away to a fairytale time that had me longing for more." -- Goddess Minx for Literary Nymph Reviews

"This is a delightful, fast-moving story with an imaginative and interesting take on leprechauns and their magic." -- Susan Mobley for Romantic Times Magazine

"Ooh, there's a hunky leprechaun in here. Trust this author to make a story featuring a hero with paranormal skin rash romantic, I tell you. Impressive indeed." (From the splash page) "This isn't a simple and unrealistic "We had great sex, so it's love, baby!" story, in other words. Ms Wallace attempts to show me that her characters talk, argue, and think things through before embarking on a happily ever after, and I think she's done a good job here." (From the review) -- Mrs. Giggles for Herself

"I’d definitely recommend Liam’s Gold to any reader who enjoys fairy/leprechaun/fantasy stories." -- Ana Thierry for Erotic Romance Writers & IReadRomance

SURVIVAL OF THE FAIREST, Samhain Publishing, July 2008

"What I liked most about this book are the unique voices Ms. Wallace gives to each character. She's nailed their parts so well, it was like I was right in their heads." -- Author Mysti Parker

"Ms. Wallace has written a wonderfully entertaining story of love, magic, fairies, gnomes and almost anything else you can think of. I hope she has more stories set in this world to come. Anyone who likes fantasy stories containing the ingredients I previously mentioned should run and get this book. Just make sure you’ve got plenty of time to savor it because you won’t want to put it down once you start." -- Diane Mason at The Romance Studio

"Survival of the Fairest is a magical romp through the City of Sin. Romantic, suspenseful and laugh-out-loud funny in places, it will keep you spellbound from page one." -- National Bestselling author Anya Bast

"Any book that hooks you well enough that you laugh, cry or feel tired along with the characters is a good one. My opinion: This is one of the good ones." -- Valerie for Manic Reviewers

Recommended Read! "Wallace has created a fun and believable fairy world that I truly enjoyed. Anytime I had to put down my Kindle and stop reading, I found myself getting irritated at the interference. I wanted to hang out with Tali and Jake in real life – that’s how good this book was! Her world building was excellent as were her characterization, motivations and the plot. I devoured every word." -- Ana Thierry for Erotic Romance Writers & IReadRomance (Recommended Read!)

"All in all, this is an above average comedy fantasy romp from an author that may just appeal to you if you like fantasy romantic comedies that are amusing but not too over-the-top amusing." -- Mrs. Giggles for Herself

"Adventures Galore are in store for the reader as author Jody Wallace takes the genre to new levels of fun and fantasy... Tali meets Jake, a magician, who rescues her from being run over by numerous vehicles, and finally takes her to the hotel where he works, and helps her get a very simple room. This act of kindness starts a chain reaction that kept this reader laughing until my hubby brought me Kleenex for my tearing eyes." -- Susiq2 for Ecataromance

"I liked this story a lot. What a fun book Survival of the Fairest was. Talista may be concerned that she will stick out, but in Vegas where anything goes, she has nothing to worry about. For a human Jake is pretty cute. I enjoyed reading when Talista first experienced human food and alcohol. Things between Talista and Jake get really hot and heavy in the bedroom. I was wondering how it was all going to turn out between Jake and Talista, and I have to say I was happy with the ending. Survival of the Fairest is my first book by Jody Wallace, and I loved every minute of it." -- Cheryl for Fallen Angels Reviews

A SPELL FOR SUSANNAH, Samhain Publishing, January 2008

"A Spell for Susannah is a wonderfully written book. Jody Wallace has done an amazing job of bringing her characters and the land in which they live to life. It will have you cheering that a curse can be broken, and the Susannah can find love and a husband. Sit down and enjoy a book that is very much worth reading." -- Tammie King for Night Owl Romance

"A Spell for Susannah is absolutely fantastic. Exceptionally told with the look and feel of a fairy tale, but this is no story for children. With exceptionally detailed prose, the author creates a sensuous fantasy world complete with romance, fairies, spells and intrigue. The depth and personality of all the characters made the story even more enjoyable. I absolutely adored the twelve princesses and would have loved to have gotten to know more of them better. This is one highly entertaining and original novel. I would not ever hesitate to read anything by Jody Wallace." -- Bonnie-Lass for Coffeetime Romance

"Jody Wallace has truly done a fabulous job of telling a story surrounding the princesses....Out of all the men that come to visit, Jon Tom is the one person that Susannah finds intriguing and makes her angry at the same time. As they come together to solve the true curse, emotions between them heat up unbelievably and the ending will have you cheering for everyone." -- Goddess Minx for Literary Nymph Reviews

"With her delightfully quirky brand of humor, Jody Wallace gives an old story a wonderfully new and unique twist....Ms. Wallace is a bright new talent who shines in both the elements of fantasy and romance. A Spell for Susannah makes a memorable first impression as you laugh and cheer the main characters on to their well deserved happily ever after." -- LeeAnn for Fallen Angel Reviews

"This is a tongue-in-cheek romp (think, oh, Piers Anthony's fantasy stories). ... Ms Wallace has achieved a very nice balance between the story and the humorous elements in A Spell For Susannah. The storyline is pretty strong and coherent without being buried under a mountain of jokes. Everything comes together very nicely here, making it a pleasurable story to read and laugh with." -- Mrs. Giggles for Herself

"This enjoyable adaptation of the Twelve Dancing Princesses fairy tale is clever and intriguing. Jody Wallace gives the story a new face, adding some modern elements that spark the plot and provide the reader with plenty of smiles along the way. She has a great feel for her characters, a nice sense of comic timing, and a contagious sense of humor. There is a definite attitude that pervades the story, and is most apparent in her female characters. Just a touch of snark that makes things really interesting, and adds to the charms of the romantic relationship. This is a great read when you want something light and entertaining, but truly satisfying." -- Miranda Lee for ParaNormal Romance Reviews

"With a gentle humor that is akin to, but not as bald as Gregory Maguire's, Ms. Wallace sweeps us away to magical lands populated by witty women and somewhat clueless, for the most part, men that they love. It's an interesting place to visit, and I'd enjoy seeing how the other eleven girls find their way to romance." -- Amanda Killgore for Huntress Reviews

"Heat" in SECRETS 22 (Ellie Marvel), Red Sage Publishing, December 2007

Not a review, but a discussion of how "Heat" echoes the Pon Farr experienced by Vulcans in Star Trek -- Heather at Galaxy Express: http://www.thegalaxyexpress.net/2009/12/pon-farr-in-sfr.html

"The heat is on when Secrets releases its latest erotic romantic anthology. The four enjoyable novellas run the gamut of sub-genres, but share in common strong characters leaving the audience breathless." -- Harriet Klausner for Genre Go Round

A rating of 5!  "Tarkin a Gitter and Sarai a Terran are in an interesting point of their friendship, Tarkin is going through some serious changes and has decided that Sarai is the one to help him....There is a huge Problem though, although Terrans are a known for having sexual and even emotional relationships with other races, Gitters are not....Can Tarkin and Sarai be what the other needs, or will Tarkin's secret destroy what they are to each other?  Who knew someone so devoid of emotions could become so fierce?" -- BrandyWine for http://www.enchantingreviews.com/

"This diverse collection of stories runs the gamut from first-person narrative fantasy to hot-and-steamy contemporaries. There's plenty of heat within these pages, plus a good dose of romance. The authors deliver well-paced stories that will entertain." -- Kristen Ahlers for www.romantictimes.com

"The first story in the Secrets Volume 22 anthology starts with a bang. Ellie Marvel’s HEAT is an interesting story that is quick paced and fun to read. ... A lot happens in this short story, and all of it is fun to read." -- Sarah for www.theromancereadersconnection.com

"Heat is a steamy sci-fi story set in the far reaches of the universe.  Sarai, with her Irish heritage, is the perfect foil to the usually calm and collected Tarkin.  When his passion is unleashed, the desolate and dreary colony they inhabit is subjected to an intense, emotional heat they never expected.  Heat shows that opposites attract across the universe." -- Jane for www.rrterotic.com

"Birthday" in SECRETS 17 (Ellie Marvel), Red Sage Publishing, December 2006

"[I] have really enjoyed the Secrets books. I have them all. They are truly wonderful. Your authors are just great. Please let them know that I appreciate their stories very much." -- Satisfied Reader, Sylvia B.

"Ellie Marvel’s BIRTHDAY explores an interesting premise. What if your luck in dating has been absolutely dismal? Thirty-something Jasmine “Jaz” Templeton, Charlie “Mr. Sensibility”, and Shea have known each other since college and have seen each others’ failed relationship attempts over the past years. Dating has always been a silent “off limits” thing amongst them, since three is a crowd and no one wants to ruin their friendship. Well, that was 15 years ago, and now Charlie really loves Jaz and doesn’t know how to get that across to her. This is a great story and one I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Watching what Charlie was willing to do in order to make Jaz love him (or realize that she already did), was wonderful." -- Sarah Silversmith for The Romance Readers Connection

"These are four erotic romances (duh -- this Secrets) starring likeable couples who sub-genre fans will want to see how the women seduce the men of their dreams." -- Harriet Klausner for The Best Reviews.

"This was a good piece of spicy romantic fiction and easily my favorite of the group. I was first impressed by the easy dialogue betweens all the characters. Shae is a wonderful secondary character and I am totally head over heels for Charlie. Charlie's transformation from Oxford shirt-wearing nice guy to dirty T-shirt bad boy was at once sexy and hilarious." Grade: A -- Lisa Gardineer for AAR

"Readers who have clamored for more Secrets will love the mix of alpha and beta males as well as kick-butt heroines who always get their men.[...]A girl just wants to have fun in Marvel’s “Birthday,” but Jasmine finds more than she bargains for when the man of her dreams picks her in a sex club." 4 Stars! -- Faith Smith for Romantic Times Magazine

"Red Sage is bringing us another thrilling anthology of passion and desire that will keep you up long into the night.[...]Ellie Marvel is a talented author and this tale friendship turning into love is sure to delight readers." Angel for Romance Junkies

"You should always be careful what you wish for, but even more so when it’s a Birthday wish." -- Jennifer Bishop for RomRevToday

Each story is a well-chosen example of the genre, put together so your attention is caught and held tight." -- Lee-Ann for Fallen Angel Reviews

"The world-building in all the stories is the biggest factor contributing to the five-star rating. Every author paints the world as existent and whole, without filling paragraphs of description and explanation that take the reader out of the story." -- Amazon.com Reader

"If you like romances mixed with 'what could be's' then you'll like this book." -- Amazon.com Reader

"Behind the Mask" (Ellie Marvel), Amber Quill Press, July 2006, part of the Blue Silver Pax

"Ellie Marvel has done a fabulous job with Blue Silver: Behind the Mask. While reading the other books in the Blue Silver series, I was curious about Arliss but never imagined she’d have so much personality and that I’d love it so much! Her sense of humor had me laughing from beginning to end while her insecurities endeared her to me. Arliss is not your typical heroine and Ellie Marvel could have not have created a more perfect man for her than Robert. Robert is one of the sweetest and sexiest men I’ve ever met and is a definite keeper. Behind the Mask is a superb ending to an absolutely delightful series. I highly recommend the entire series!" -- Kerin for Two Lips Reviews

"Ms. Marvel's Blue Silver: Behind the Mask is a fantastic addition to the Blue Silver series....and I can't wait to see what this author will come out with next." -- Tasha Fisher for Just Erotic Romance Reviews

"Behind The Mask is an original story with one of the most unlikely heroines I have ever come across. Fabulous!" -- Elizabeth for Fallen Angel Reviews

"Strip-o-Gram" (Ellie Marvel), Amber Quill Press, June 2005

"Strip-O-Gram has been beautifully crafted by Ms Marvel. The characters engage in rather risky intimate activities, tending to be so into each other they end up in places where their intimate acts risk exposure by someone finding them ... This is one I suggest you try out, definitely one to add to your light summer reading pile." -- Elizabeth for Lost and Now Found Reviews

"Finally! An erotic story that's hot, fun and funny with real people you'd want to be friends with." -- C. Pegau, reader who was not bribed, I swear

"STRIP-O-GRAM is a wonderfully fun, feel good story with an amusing plot." -- Chrissy Dionne for Romance Junkies

"Strip-O-Gram is a very endearing story, and it's all because of its feminine protagonist, Kitty Bradshaw, a woman who isn't afraid to tell it like it is."  -- Sarah W. for The Romance Studio

"If you want a quick steamy contemporary romance then Strip-O-Gram is the perfect book to curl up with!" -- Julie Esparza for Just Erotic Romance Reviews

"Strip-O-Gram is one scorching hot, erotic short read about a woman who is talked into baring it all." -- Contessa for Fallen Angel Reviews
